Sorry no photos yesterday..Mondays are pretty busy and Ginger was a little wild dog last night- barking and carrying on until bedtime- I don't know what her deal was! Usually she settles down by bedtime, but not last night. I think someone gave her coffee. (not really)
Today we have a video- Ginger does NOT like Elvis Elmo-
Ginger had some new adventures today- she went to Sonic Drive-In and to the park! While I do not have any pictures from the park(too busy keeping her from eating things off the ground), I do have some from Sonic, and home of course. Hanna(my daughter) thought it would be funny if she sat on the dashboard while we were eating at Sonic.
I think this was an attempt at biting one of us that she slyly changed into "I'm not trying to bite you, I'm just yawning." She does that alot.
Yeah, I love taking pictures of her sleeping, especially on her back cause I think it's so cute. Right after I took this she moved-hence the next picture.
I had every intention of posting but got so tired I had to go to bed.. but before I post pics let me share something more important. If you are in any of the online Corgi communities you have probably heard about this, but I thought I would pass on the info just in case. Andy has been missing since New Year's Eve in the CT area. There have been many sightings but no one has been able to catch him. If you are in this area please keep an eye out- here is the website with a map of where he has been seen, etc.-http://bringandyhome.wordpress.com/ . If you live to far away to help search, like me, please pray that he will be brought home safe and sound. Thanks!
I got a few good ones this day as I was home most of the day. We also had a milestone, Ginger came up the stairs all by herself! Which is a good and bad thing- lol. So far she doesn't venture up on her own much, and she is still afraid to come down on her own, unless it's just a few steps at the bottom.
Here are a couple of pics from Friday- look at that cute Corgi butt! ;)
This is one of my favorites, I love how she looks in natural light! Really shows off her pretty fur. :)
"Mom, are you taking pictures of me again??"
OK, blogger has decide to go wonky on me and won't let me post anymore pics from my computer right now.. so I will post some of today's (and yesterdays) pics tomorrow!
I know I don't post much except pictures, so I thought tonight I would share the cool story(at least I think so) of how we got Ginger. I'd say maybe a year, or year and a half ago I first discovered Corgis. I am an avid cross stitcher and read a lot of cross stitch blogs- a couple of the ladies have Corgis, and I think that's how I first was introduced through them- through Corgi Cottage I am pretty sure. Prior to this I was pretty much a cat person. We had a dog, Wolf, a beautiful American Eskimo Spitz, but I never really bonded with him like my husband did. I alway felt like Wolf was "his" dog, since I liked cats better. We had to put Wolf down a couple of years ago, at the ripe old age of 15. :(
Anyway- I would look longingly at the pictures of the Corgis online, and I even found someone who bred them, but I couldn't afford one. Even if I could, given our other expenses I couldn't justify spending that kind of money, even for a Corgi. We are usually on a pretty tight budget.
My kids and I would always go into the local pet store, even after Wolf passed. My daughter liked to look at the fish and sometimes they would have cute kittens to look at. Forgot to mention we couldn't get a cat because my husband and daughter are both allergic to cats. Well one day I got into a conversation with a lady who worked there.. I ended up telling her about Wolf and how now I wanted a Corgi. Well it turned out she had a Corgi, a Pembroke which is what I wanted, and she and her husband were thinking about getting a male sometime down the road and might breed a litter. She said she wouldn't be charging as much as most breeders. Her dog is a pure-bred and had papers and she planned on getting a male that was the same. So I gave her my business card and asked her to call me when she had some puppies. She said it would probably be awhile and at that time it was fine because at that time we weren't financially ready to get one anyway.
So time passed and I put the conversation in the back of my mind, but didn't forget it. :) Imagine my surprise and excitement when she called me in November and told me they had puppies! And here is what I think is the neat part- first- we actually had the money at the time she called to get a puppy, and she was charging a very reasonable price. Second- at the pet store she works at, they wear different aprons at different times.. and shortly after the puppies were born, she put on a different apron, and it was the one that had my card in the pocket, which jogged her memory of our conversation. Three- my husband said yes to buying one, even though he joked about Corgis being "mutant" dogs. (And now Ginger has him wrapped around her paw. ;) ) Four- we wanted a girl puppy and there was only one girl in the litter. :) Now tell me it wasn't meant to be that we have Ginger! :) She's only been with us about two months and I can't imagine life without her now. ♥
